We recently received an inquiry in which the customer wanted to order services for the production of UFI codes and PCN notifications for hand soap.
But does hand soap even need a UFI code?
The answer is NO. Namely, hand soap falls under the field of cosmetic and not chemical products. As a result, this product does not need a UFI code and a PCN notification.
In Article 2 of Regulation No. 1223/2003 on cosmetic products is a definition:
" 'cosmetic product’ means any substance or mixture intended to be placed in contact with the external parts of the human body (epidermis, hair system, nails, lips and external genital organs) or with the teeth and the mucous membranes of the oral cavity with a view exclusively or mainly to cleaning them, perfuming them, changing their appearance, protecting them, keeping them in good condition or correcting body odours".
